A representative for the actress confirms the pair has ended their year long romance over the summer, but doesn't provide the reason why.
Having been together with Tim Robbins for more than two decades, Susan Sarandon had her representative confirming that she and the actor have called it quits. In a statement issued to People, Teal Cannaday says, "Actress Susan Sarandon and her partner of 23 years, actor Tim Robbins have announced that they separated over the summer," adding, "No further comments will be made."
Sarandon, 63, and Robbins, 51, met while shooting the 1988 film "Bull Durham". He played a hotshot pitcher, while she was the passionate fan who simultaneously seduced him and prepared him for the big leagues. The pair has two sons together; 20-year-old Jack Henry and 17-year-old Miles Guthrie.
The celebrity couple was highly admired for their long term relationship despite their age gap. On not marrying Robbins, Sarandon said in the past, "I won't marry because I am too afraid of taking him for granted or him taking me for granted - maybe it will be a good excuse for a party when I am 80."
Before cohabiting with Robbins, Sarandon was married to her college sweetheart Chris Sarandon, who fathers her 24-year-old actress daughter Eva Amurri. The pair was married from 1967 to 1979.
