Jeff Brazier quashes Kerry Katona romance rumours... by going public with his secret nine-month relationship

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Commited: The father-of-two has been dating fashion buyer Claire Springett for nine months

Throughout this season of Dancing On Ice, speculation has been rife about a romance between Kerry Katona and Jeff Brazier.

But father-of-two Jeff has rubbished the rumours today by making a bombshell announcement - he has happily been in a relationship for nine months.

Jade Goody's ex has been dating fashion buyer Claire Springett secretly, but felt compelled to come clean about the romance 'out of respect' for his girlfriend after whispers of a flirtation between him and Kerry heated up.

Bombshell: Jeff Brazier has rubbished rumours he is romancing fellow Dancing On Ice contestant Kerry Katona by revealing he is in a relationship

The 31-year-old has revealed that the relationship with Claire, 33, is so serious that she has no moved into his Essex home with him and his boys.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, Jeff says: 'For anyone to find their way into a relationship with me, the first thing I’m looking at is their compatibility with my kids.

'Claire has passed that test – and then some.'
Brazier has two sons - Bobby, seven, and Freddy, six, with reality star Jade Goody, who passed away after her battle with cervical cancer on Mother's Day 2009.

Family: Brazier says anyone he dates must get on well with his sons Bobby and Freddy, and that 'Claire has passed that test – and then some'

No romance: Jeff's revelation has poured cold water over rumours of a romance with Kerry Katona

Jeff tells the paper that he and Claire, who were introduced by her younger brother Andrew, intend to remain primarily out of the spotlight.

'Relationships can be tough at the best of times and it’s even harder in the public eye,' he said.

'I haven’t taken Claire to any public events because I realise I would be saying, "Here you are – here’s my girlfriend" and the questions would start.

Before he made the decision to talk openly about his new love, Jeff enjoyed a low-key relationship with the attractive blonde fashionista where they went to the movies with the boys and pub nights with mates.

Exhausting: He says his hectic Dancing On Ice schedule has left him beat
And with his exhausting Dancing On Ice schedule, that's all he appears to be able to muster the energy for.

Brazier says that he often falls asleep during story time as he is putting the boys to bed, after spending all day in rehearsals with skating partner Isabella Gauthier.

'Being so tired all the time isn’t great, but it hasn’t really put too much strain on things at home,' he says.

'At least the skating is all done in school hours, and Claire is far too supportive a person for it to be a problem with her.'

Kerry Katona slammed for 'extinct' skating skills as she is voted off Dancing On Ice

By GEORGINA LITTLEJOHN

Emotional: Kerry Katona choked back tears as she thanked everyone on the show after she partner Dan Whiston were voted off Dancing On Ice tonight

She had already resigned herself that she would be leaving the show tonight.

And it would appear the writing was already on the wall for Kerry Katona after she was voted off Dancing On Ice tonight.

But despite her insistence that it was 'only a TV show', the reality star choked back tears as she said her goodbyes.

Not enough: Kerry and Daniel were voted off after performing a routine to the Pussycat Dolls song Hush Hush

Wiping her eyes, she told host Phillip Schofield: 'It's been more than a skating competition. I want to thank the public for voting, my kids are proud, massive thank you for Daniel for his patience.'

Kerry's partner Dan Whiston then praised her and said: 'It's been a journey, Kerry's been a brilliant friend and to me, Kerry's my winner.'

Kerry and Dan faced Jeff Brazier and his partner Isabelle Gauthier, and re-performed their routine to the Pussycat Dolls song Hush Hush.

But it wasn't enough to keep them in, although the outcome to some seemed almost predictable after the scathing comments the pair received after their first time on the ice tonight.

After being given a score of just nine - their lowest on the show - Kerry tried to put on a brave face and joked about having already booked a holiday and said: 'It's only a TV show and I'm having a great time.'

But judge Emma Bunton told her: 'I was quite surprised that you were so relaxed. After being in the bottom, in your head you're already on that plane.'

Lowest score: The judges only gave Kerry and Dan nine points

Robin Cousins added: 'It's been a tough struggle for you which you you have admitted, but it feels like the past couple of weeks you've given in to that'
But the most scathing comments came courtesy of Kerry's biggest critic Jason Gardiner, who, true to form, didn't hold back.

He said: 'What tonight proves, Kerry, is that, unequivocally, your skating ability is on the endangered species list because it's virtually extinct.

In unison: Chloe Madeley and Michael Zenezini were awarded 18.5 by the judges, who said she needed to show more 'personality'

'You've given up on yourself and that's a shame. You've been skating for three months and I have to question what you've been doing all this time.'

This week not only proved to be a tough one for Kerry, but for all the contestant as they were underwent the ultimate skills test with performers having to include three skills - a step, a jump and a spin.

As usual, the skaters' mentors Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean opened the show, performing an elegant routine as Rumer sang Burt Bacharach's What The World Needs Now.

That's our girl! Judy Finnegan and Richard Madeley cheer on their daughter Chloe

The first celebrity up was Chloe Madeley and her partner Michael Zenezini, who both glittered in their black sparkly outfits.

Cheered by her famous parents Judy Finnegan and Richard Madeley, they performed to the Annie Lennox song Little Bird and received a score of 18.5.

Emma Bunton praised her for not shying away from 'difficulty in routines' and said she was pleased to see her push it every week.

Improvement: Johnson Beharry was told that he had 'upped his ante' this week

Jason Gardiner said their steps sequence was 'in unison' but added that he wanted Chloe to come back with 'personality'.

Johnson Beharry VC and his partner Jodeyne Higgins, who narrowly avoided being in the skate-off, were up next, skating to She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5.

But they only managed a score of 14.5, although the judges were in agreement that Johnson was improving each week.

Top of the table: Laura Hamilton and Colin Ratushniak impressed the judges yet again this week with their flawless performance

Impressed: All three judges gave Laura and Colin 8.5 which took them to the top of the leaderboard

Gardiner told him that he was 'upping your ante', while Cousins said: 'It's been a slow and methodical process and if that's how you work then it is paying off.'

The golden couple, who can do no wrong in everyone's eyes were up next and Laura Hamilton and Colin Ratusniak showed no signs of slipping as they topped the leaderboard once again with an impressive performance to Stop by Sam Brown, which earned them a score of 25.5.

Bunton told Laura: 'I wanted you to relax and could feel those nerves but you are an unbelievable performer', while Gardiner added: 'I'm a huge fan and tonight is no exception. You just seemed to flow through all of it.'

Messy: Jason Gardiner told Jeff Brazier and Isabelle Gauthier their routine was displaced

Jeff Brazier and his partner Isabelle Gauthier, who avoided being sent home this evening, scored 16 after a routine to Cee Lo Green's Forget You.

Bunton told them: 'If you keep working this hard you will make this competition very interesting.'

Gardiner added: 'There's no question you have improved, however, you were putting in a lot of effort but it was very messy, it was sort of displaced.'

Serene: All three judges told Denise Welch and Matt Evers that their routine had a 'natural calmness'

Actress Denise Welch - whose fans in the audience included her husband Tim Healy and her fellow Loose Woman Colleen Nolan - was up next with partner Matt Evers, as they performed a routine to Cyndi Lauper's True Colours.

Receiving 16.5, the couple's highest score, she said: 'I'm totally gobsmacked by that. Absolutely thrilled to get those scores.'

And Gardiner added: 'I am incredibly proud of you, tonight it is about what you can do and what you have proven and what you have done is quality over quantity, you did exactly what was required.'

Come on, Denise! Welch's fanbase - including (L-R) Keith Lemon, Colleen Nolan and Denise's husband Tim Healy, cheered her on from the audience

Then it was the moment that left the audience, judges and viewers with their hearts in their mouths as Sam Attwater and Brianne Delcourt came on to perform the Headbanger move as part of their routine.

The move, which requires the male partner to spin his female around and around just above the ice, had never been performed by a non-professional skater on the show.

But Sam held his nerve as the pair pulled it off flawlessly, earning them a 24.5 score, and Bunton telling him she couldn't' believe she was 'seeing somebody who is not a professional'.

One wrong move: Sam concentrated hard as he spun Brianne fast in the air round the ice

After Kerry and Dan performed next, the show was warpped up by Vanilla Ice and his partner Katie Stainsby, who performed to his number one song, Ice Ice Baby.

They received 22.5, their highest score so far, which Cousins said was the 'best overall performance of the night and a great way to finish off the show'.

Strictly one of the boys: Kara Tointon hangs out with Artem and fellow dancers James Jordan and Jared Murillo on tour

By GEORGINA LITTLEJOHN

Lads - and Kara's - day out: Miss Tointon joined boyfriend Artem Chigvintsev and other Strictly dancers James Jordan and Jordan Murillo for lunch in Manchester yesterday

She is one of the most glamorous contestants of Strictly Come Dancing whose sex appeal and sultry dancing won the competition.

But Kara Tointon proved that she can also be one of the boys as she spent yesterday hanging out with the Strictly Come Dancing lads.

The actress was snapped in Manchester ahead of the BBC One show's date at the city's Evening News Arena which takes place tonight.

Yesterday, during a break in rehearsals, Kara, 27, left the Lowry Hotel, where contestants and their dancing partners are staying, for some food.

But she didn't indulge in a girls' lunch with her fellow female dancers, but decided to hang out with the lads instead.

With boyfriend and dance partner Artem Chigvintsev, the couple were joined by dancers James Jordan and Jared Murillo as they headed out for a bite to eat.

Catching up: While Artem chatted to Jared, Kara and James checked their emails and text messages

The four were snapped waiting to cross the road as they left the hotel and headed into the city.

And in a sign of the times, all four of them clutched mobile phones as they checked their emails and texts sent to them during their rehearsals.

After lunch, they all hit the shops to indulge in some retail therapy and spend their hard-earned Strictly dosh.

Checking in: Kara catches up on her friends, family and possibly agent as she takes a break from Strictly rehearsals

But while James and Jared didn't seem to mind traipsing round the shops, Artem, who has been dating Kara since they were paired together for the BBC show last year, looked bored.

He was snapped propping himself up by a cashier's till looking completely fed up as Kara chatted to the sales assistant.

The four are part of the Strictly tour which is almost at an end after kicking off in Nottingham last month.

After tonight's Manchester date, the tour will wrap up with six dates at the Glasgow SECC.

Fancy a bit of shopping, fellas? Kara rallies her men as they head into town

Cheryl Cole set for Stateside fame and fortune after she lands her dream job on U.S. X Factor

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

The American dream: Cheryl Cole, seen here in Venice today, will be headed Stateside after all after she was named as a judge on the US X Factor today

Speculation has been rife for months now as to whether or not Cheryl Cole will be a judge on the US X Factor.

But today a source told Mail the Girls Aloud star WILL be heading across the Pond for the American version of the talent show.

The source said the 27-year-old singer has been offered the job but has yet to officially ink the deal.

The news comes a day after a report in the News Of The World claimed the hugely popular X Factor judge is in line to sign a deal worth £10million next week.

Although boss Simon Cowell was keen to take Cheryl to the States for the show, producers over there had been concerned that not only was she not famous enough in the US, but some viewers might struggle to understand her Newcastle accent.

But after Fox executives were impressed with her style on the British show, Cheryl has apparently been given the opportunity to make a name for herself in the US.

When asked for a comment, Cheryl's spokesperson said: 'There has been no announcement on American X Factor,' adding any reports to suggest she had been formally invited to be a judge as 'speculation'.

However, in the last week, fears have been raised over the singer's health after she nearly cancelled a gig in Venice.

Geordie girl done good: Cheryl left Venice today as it was confirmed she is set to take the US by storm

Cheryl nearly pulled out of a performance at a private party in the north Italian city for which she was paid £250,000.

Her manager Hilary Shaw was said to be on the verge of tears after her client cancelled flights and other arrangements at the last minute.

She was overheard saying: 'It's been a terrible week. She's cancelling everything. I'm really worried about the repercussions.'

But Cheryl kept the date and arrived at the party just hours before her performance at the bash.

Other friends have suggested that Cheryl is still struggling to come to terms with her divorce from Chelsea star Ashley Cole last September, but this job in the US could be just what she needs to move in.

On the water: Cheryl is helped out of a boat after her performance at a private party in Venice on Saturday

Despite rumours that she has landed the X Factor job, she did not appear or was not mentioned on the first American X Factor ad which was aired on Sunday night during a commercial break in the Super Bowl.

The 30-second promo, which would have cost around $3million to air, revealed that the show is coming to the Fox network in the autumn.

The clip shows X Factor 'X' symbols flying in slow motion, before forming into Simon Cowell, who then turns to face the camera, with epic music playing in the background, and the slogan 'He's back' filling the screen.

Up until now details of the US version have been a closely guarded secret, but the music supremo has now revealed that the winner will walk away with a staggering $5million recording contract.

Guess who it is: Flying X Factor symbols form to create Cowell in the commercial

Winners of the UK series are awarded a £1million contract.
And in a move sure to raise eyebrows, hopefuls as young as 12 will be able to audition.

'I like the idea that a 12-year-old on this show can compete with an older singer and a singing group,' Cowell said in a statement.

'I’ve never believed there should be a cut-off age for talent, and we are going to put our money where our mouths are with the $5million recording contract.

'I’m doing this show in America because I genuinely believe we can find a superstar.'

'He's Back': First American X Factor ad airs during Super Bowl commercial break

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Making a comeback: The first American X Factor ad aired tonight during a commercial break in the Super Bowl and features Simon Cowell, a judge on the British version of the show and formerly of the American Idol

Commercial doesn't reveal full judging line-up but Cheryl Cole will get job, source confirms

His caustic put downs and straight-talking style have been missed by viewers of this season's American Idol.

But Simon Cowell will be making a comeback to U.S. TV screens this autumn - with the X Factor.

An estimated 100million viewers in the States saw the first ever ad for the talent show air tonight during a commercial break in the Super Bowl.

The 30-second promo would have cost around $3million to air and revealed that the show is coming to the Fox network in the fall of this year.

The clip shows X Factor 'X' symbols flying in slow motion, before forming into Simon Cowell.

Guess who it is: Flying X Factor symbols form to create Cowell in the commercial

He means business: Once formed he then turns around to face the camera, with a serious look on his face

He then turns to face the camera, with epic music playing in the background, and the slogan 'He's back' fills the screen.

Despite reports that Cheryl Cole, one of the judges in the British version of the show, will be joining the line-up, the commercial didn't give a hint of who might be on the U.S. panel.

Miss Cole's people are yet to comment on fresh reports the 27-year-old Girls Aloud star has landed a role.

At first it looked like she had bagged the job after Fox executives were impressed with her style on the British show.

Reports this month then suggested her hopes were dashed after bosses became concerned she was not famous enough in the U.S.

Be prepared: Cowell will be the top judge on the show, which is hugely successful in the UK, but the rest of the judging panel was not revealed

Not long now: The ad, which would have cost around $3million to air during the highly lucrative Super Bowl slot, revealed the show is coming to the Fox network this autumn

However the British Daily Express today reported she had been given the job.
A source told The Sun: 'He wants the show to be the best talent show ever. Details about the judges will be released next week.'

Other stars who have been touted to join the U.S. panel include Nicole Scherzinger and Katy Perry.

Both filled in on the British show this year at various point for Cole, who was struck down with malaria, and Dannii Minogue who was on maternity leaving during the auditions stage.

Meanwhile X Factor host Dermot O' Leary, 37, has said he is unlikely to get a spot on the US version.

He told Chatty Man host Alan Carr: 'i don't think I'll get it. I'm not being pessimistic. It's gone on so long I've made peace with it.'

Tough-talking: The British judging line-up is comprised of Cowell, Cheryl Cole, who has been tipped to get a role on the U.S. show, Dannii Minogue and Simon Cowell

Face-off:Furious Dancing On Ice star Karen Barber's fight with Jason Gardiner after judge's harsh insult as Jennifer Metcalfe's voted off

By JODY THOMPSON

Fury: Karen Barber stormed up to Jason Gardiner and accused him of being 'offensive' after his personal slur on her

Dancing On Ice stars Karen Barber and Jason Gardiner almost came to blows tonight after the judge slated the head coach's expertise.

Karen, 49, was seen with tears streaming down her face after Johnson Beharry VC failed to get the points she felt he deserved during his routine on the Las Vegas themed show.

Beharry, 31, had revealed that a friend of his was in the audience who he hadn't seen in five years since they'd convalesced together in hospital, where the hero was recovering from the serious head injuries he'd sustained in Iraq.

Karen said she felt the judges had marked him too low, to which Jason snapped back: 'If your opinion still mattered you'd be on the panel.'

Hero: Johnson Beharry VC revealed it had been an emotional night for him as a fellow injured veteran who hadn't seen for five years was in the audience

A furious Karen left her seat with the celebrity contestants and stormed up to the Australian, jabbing her finger in his face and demanding he repeat what he'd just said.

Her voice quavering, she went right up to his face and said: 'You know Jason, you really are so offensive. You bring so little to this panel.

Posting in the hour-long break between shows, contestant Jeff Brazier Tweeted: 'Can you believe I got up and went to the loo just before Jason went for Karen, I would have had to of stepped in!! She was really upset...'

Unfair: Karen wipes a tear away after Johnson Beharry scored low marks from the judges

Show host Phillip Schofield was initially left shocked by the confrontation, and could only managed a 'Strewth!' to camera.

However, he soon made a joke of it, saying: 'We've added a new dimension to the competition - a fight! No not really. It's Vegas night.'

But when the show resumed after the scheduled break, Karen's chair remained empty, fuelling speculation that she'd stormed out of the studio.

She did return and Jason gave a half-hearted apology at the start of the second half of the show, but Karen wouldn't accept it and held up her hands to say she'd heard enough, calling him a 'nasty,

Themed: The show had a Las Vegas theme last night - a city famous for staging big fights

Missed it: Jeff Brazier Tweeted that he'd missed the confrontation as he'd nipped to the toilet

Relationships between the pair have become increasingly icy since Karen was taken off the judging panel to become the contestants' head coach.

The face-off wasn't the only shock of the night either - one of the show's early favourites, 27-year-old Jennifer Metcalfe, found herself in the bottom two with Vanilla Ice after the public vote and was voted off by the judges in the skate-off.

The former Hollyoaks star, who found love on the ice with French partner Sylvain Longchambon, was so devastated she could barely speak.

Talent: But despite impressive moves like this, Jennifer was voted off the show

Choked: Jennifer became overcome with emotion after being voted off the show

Before announcing the result, Phillip said that even he had found the results of the phone votes surprising.

He said:'We hate this. Shock result tonight.'

After the judges all chose Vanilla Ice over her, Jennifer managed to get out: 'I just wanted to get further for him...' before choking up.

However, on an earlier VT, she'd said: 'I've enjoyed every single minute of it. He's the most perfect coach. I feel amazing on the ice with him.I know now that I can learn anything I want to if I put my mind to it. Ice skating just feels like me, like I'm home. I'm going to continue.'

Shock exit: Despite being solidly in the middle of theJudges' Leaderboard, Jennifer found herself in the bottom two with Vanilla Ice after the public vote

Jennifer had skated to Cher's If I Could Turn Back Time, wearing a sheer costume in the style of the singer and with her hair in similar dark curls.

All the contestants this week had their first skills test and had to complete a steps sequence on their own - which left many with the wobbles.

Kerry Katona was shown almost quitting the show as she had a meltdown in training that she couldn't manage the task.

But despite landing at the bottom of the leaderboard, viewers at home kept the former Atomic Kitten star out of the bottom two.

Confidence crisis: Kerry Katona had a meltdown during her training this week saying she couldn't manage teh step sequence

Battle: Kerry said that although she knew she didn't have as much talent as some of the other contestants, she was 'having a ball' on the ice

Kerry confessed that she didn't have the talent of many of her competitors, but insisted she was thoroughly enjoying her time on the rink.

She said: 'I'm nowhere near as good as the rest of them, but I am having a ball. This is more than a skating show for me. I'm not the best skater, but I'm here for the journey and the entertainment value.'

Judge Emma Bunton agreed, saying: 'You look so pretty tonight. but I think the step sequence has really exposed you tonight. You're such a sweetheart but the others are so far ahead of you now.'
