Glamorous Courteney Cox hits a purple patch on the set of Scream 4

Pretty in purple: Courteney Cox hits a glamorous purple patch as she returns in her biggest onscreen role as Scream reporter Gale Weathers

It has been 15 years since she starred in the original, but Courteney Cox looked like no time had passed while filming Scream 4 in Michigan.

The actress is reprising her role as ambitious news reporter Gale Weathers alongside Neve Campbell and husband David Arquette, and a host of newcomers.

Hayden Panettiere, Emma Roberts and Adam Brody are joining the cast of the hugely successful franchise, and Courteney has pulled out all the stops to ensure she is not outshone by her younger co-stars.

The 46-year-old looked immaculate during a break on set in a tight purple dress and matching heels. Her glossy black hair was curled and her skin glowed.

Courteney hasn't achieved her youthful looks naturally though.
She revealed in the August issue of US InStyle magazine that she uses Botox.

'Aging gracefully is one thing, but trying to slow it down is another. Sometimes I use Botox. Compared to most, I use it very sparingly.'

The actress admitted to going overboard in the past.

She said, 'I feel weird if I can’t move my face, and that one time I overdid it, I felt trapped in my own skin.'

Courteney has struggled to find success in film outside of the Scream franchise, appearing in flops The Shrink Is In and 3000 Miles to Graceland.

She has fared better in television. After Friends ended in 2004, Courteney appeared in moderately successful Dirt, and is currently starring in hit show Cougar Town

Now and then: Courteney looks as good as when she first starred in the original Scream films over a decade ago

But Scream and its sequels were huge hits worldwide, the first bringing in £114million alone, and gave Courteney a taste of big screen success, like the kind enjoyed by her BFF Jennifer Aniston.

So it is no surprise that she has agreed to reprise her role as the character we all loved to hate.

But if this latest role doesn't revive her waning film career, Courteney is keeping her options open. She told InStyle, 'There are other things I am interested in.

'I wanted to be an architect, and I wish I knew more about landscaping. I think I’d be a good therapist too.'
