All smiles: Coronation Street star Kym Marsh looked back to good health after her recent hospital visit

Kym Marsh is smiling again after being struck down by a mystery illness.

The actress, who was forced to pull out of a day of Coronation Street filming for a hospital visit two weeks ago, looked back to good health as she stepped out in Manchester yesterday.

She was being treated to a 'celebrity gifting event' at the Malmaison hotel, where she emerged with bags full of free treats including Lipsy clothing.

The 33-year-old, who plays Michelle Connor in the Weatherfield soap, assured fans that she 'is fine' after her health scare but stopped short of revealing her condition.

She wrote in her column for new magazine: 'You may have read in the papers that I went into hospital last week, although it wasn't half as dramatic as it was made out to be.

'It is a medical condition that has been ongoing for the last year.

'I'm receiving regular treatment, so I will be fine, and I want to thank all the staff at the hospital for looking after me so well during my stay.'

She added: 'Now I'm looking forward to getting back to work on Coronation Street.'

It's in the bag: Kym and fellow soap stars Michelle Keegan and Brooke Vincent all picked up a few goodies at a 'celebrity gifting event' at the Malmaison hotel
